Multi-topology regulator in an 8-SOIC footprint
The LT1072CS8#PBF is a current-mode switching regulator that handles step-up, step-down, and inverting topologies — buck, boost, Cuk, flyback, and forward converter — all from a single 8-SOIC package. The 1.25 A switch current rating sets the output power ceiling; at 40 kHz switching frequency, the transformer core for a flyback design will be larger than a 500 kHz part, but the low frequency keeps radiated EMI manageable and simplifies layout.
Wide input and output voltage range
Input range spans 3 V to 40 V, and the internal switch can handle outputs up to 60 V — enough headroom for 48 V telecom rails or 24 V industrial busses with margin. The output is adjustable from a 1.25 V reference, and the configuration can be positive or negative, so a single BOM position covers both a 5 V buck and a -5 V boost without a second regulator.
Active lifecycle, ROHS3 compliant
The 8-SOIC package is a standard, widely stocked footprint, so kitting and rework are straightforward.
