Six-channel isolation for industrial signal routing
The ADUM7641CRQZ-RL7 is a six-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling. It provides 1000Vrms isolation across the barrier, with five channels on side 1 and one on side 2 — a 5/1 input split that suits applications where the bulk of the digital signals originate from one domain and a single feedback or control line returns. The part handles data rates up to 25Mbps, with 2ns typical rise/fall times and a maximum propagation delay of 50ns each way. Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 15kV/µs minimum, which matters when the isolator sits between a noisy power stage and a controller.
Where the 5/1 channel split fits
The unidirectional channel arrangement — five inputs on side 1, one on side 2 — maps naturally to isolated SPI or UART links where the main data flow is one direction and a single handshake or interrupt line returns. It also works for isolating a set of digital sensor outputs (e.g., encoder pulses, limit switches) with one isolated alarm or reset line back. The 25Mbps data rate covers most industrial serial protocols up to full-speed SPI without bottlenecking the bus.
The ADUM7641CRQZ-RL7 operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply on both sides, so it can bridge a 3.3V MCU domain to a 5V peripheral or vice versa without a separate level shifter. The 20-QSOP package (3.90mm body width) is a compact footprint for space-constrained boards.
