1000Vrms isolation, 4 unidirectional channels
The Analog Devices ADUM7442ARQZ-RL7 is a 4-channel unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler family, built on magnetic coupling technology. It provides galvanic isolation up to 1000Vrms between input and output sides, with two channels per direction — a 2/2 split that maps neatly to isolated SPI (clock and data out on one side, data in and chip-select return on the other) or four independent general-purpose signal paths. The 1Mbps data rate handles most sensor interfaces, UART links, and GPIO isolation tasks without the speed overhead of higher-rate parts. Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 15kV/µs minimum, which means the part holds data integrity through fast voltage transients across the isolation barrier — a key spec for motor-drive, inverter, and industrial environments where switching noise couples into the ground loop.
Propagation delay is 75ns max in both directions, symmetrical within 25ns pulse-width distortion. At 1Mbps (1µs bit period), the 75ns delay consumes 7.5% of the timing budget — manageable for most SPI and UART links but worth checking if the design chains multiple isolators in series. Rise and fall times are 2ns typical, keeping edge rates clean without excessive ringing. The 16-QSOP package (3.90mm body width) is a compact footprint for four-channel isolation — about the same board area as two dual-channel isolators but with one fewer IC to route and decouple. Surface-mount only, so plan for reflow assembly.
Temperature grade and deployment context
Not rated for automotive under-hood (125°C) or military extended-range applications, but the industrial band covers the majority of commercial and light-industrial designs.
Sourcing and lifecycle status
It is not listed as NRND or last-time-buy, so no imminent obsolescence risk for production programs.
