Isolated signal and power in one SOIC-16 package
The ADUM6403CRWZ from Analog Devices integrates four general-purpose digital isolation channels with an on-chip isolated DC-DC converter using the IsoPower and iCoupler technologies. It provides 5000 Vrms isolation in a 16-SOIC package, handling data rates up to 25 Mbps with typical rise/fall times of 2.5 ns. The unidirectional channel configuration (one input-side channel, three output-side channels) suits applications where a microcontroller on the primary side controls multiple secondary-side peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, or relay drivers.
The 5000 Vrms isolation rating is the reinforced-level figure for safety isolation in medical (IEC 60601) and industrial (IEC 60950) equipment. It supports transient overvoltages up to 10 kV peak, typical for motor-drive common-mode events. The 25 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) ensures that fast-switching inverter nodes do not corrupt the digital data crossing the barrier. Propagation delay is 60 ns max (both directions), with pulse-width distortion held to 6 ns max — tight enough for SPI clock rates up to 8 MHz and UART at 1 Mbps without bit errors.
Industrial temperature rating and package fit
The 16-SOIC wide-body package (0.295-inch body width, 7.50 mm) provides creepage distance meeting reinforced isolation requirements. Surface-mount assembly with standard reflow profiles; MSL rating should be confirmed from the moisture-sensitive label on the reel.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
For volume production, the wide supply range and industrial temperature grade make it a stable BOM line with no near-term obsolescence risk.
