What the 5000Vrms isolation and 4A peak drive mean for your power stage
The ADUM4223ARWZ-RL is a dual-channel isolated gate driver from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between the input logic and the two output channels, each rated for 4A peak output current. That combination — high isolation voltage plus strong drive — targets designs where a low-voltage controller must safely drive high-side and low-side power switches in motor drives, inverters, or switched-mode power supplies operating from a 4.5V to 18V output supply rail. The 59ns max propagation delay (both edges) keeps switching dead time predictable, while the 50kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity means the gate drive stays clean even when the power stage is chopping at high dv/dt.
Package and footprint — 16-SOIC wide-body
The part comes in a 16-SOIC wide-body package (7.50mm body width), surface-mount. The wide-body SOIC provides the creepage distance needed to sustain the 5000Vrms isolation rating. For a production layout, plan the decoupling close to the supply pins (VDD1 and VDD2) per the datasheet's recommended values.
Temperature range and approvals
The device carries CSA, UR, and VDE safety approvals, which simplifies certification in equipment destined for North American and European markets. ROHS3 compliant per the lifecycle record.
Lifecycle status — still active
The iCoupler platform is a mature, long-running series from Analog Devices, so supply continuity is typical for this class.
