Isolated gate driver for IGBT and SiC MOSFET stages
The ADUM4135BRWZ-RL is a single-channel isolated gate driver from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 4 A peak output current with 5000 Vrms isolation, making it a fit for driving IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs in motor drives, solar inverters, and industrial power supplies. The 16-SOIC package keeps the footprint compact for high-density power stages.
The 5000 Vrms isolation rating covers reinforced isolation requirements for mains-connected equipment. The 100 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) ensures the gate drive stays clean during fast switching transitions — critical when the high-side switch swings hundreds of volts in tens of nanoseconds. Without that margin, the output can glitch and shoot through the half-bridge. Propagation delay is 66 ns max, symmetrical on both edges. That symmetry simplifies dead-time calculation: you budget the same margin for turn-on and turn-off. The 16 ns rise and fall times are fast enough for switching frequencies up to several hundred kilohertz without excessive cross-conduction.
The output supply range of 12 V to 30 V covers standard gate drive voltages for IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs.
It is suitable for both prototyping and production builds without a forced redesign window.
