Isolated gate drive for industrial and automotive power stages
The ADUM4120CRIZ is a single-channel isolated gate driver from the iCoupler® series, built with magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 2.3A peak output current across a 5000Vrms isolation barrier, with a common-mode transient immunity of 150kV/µs minimum. The 69ns/79ns max propagation delays (tpLH/tpHL) and 16.5ns max pulse-width distortion keep switching timing tight for IGBT and SiC/GaN gate drive in motor drives, solar inverters, and industrial power supplies. The output supply range (11.6V to 35V) suits standard gate drive rails, and the wide-body 6-SOIC package provides creepage for reinforced insulation.
The 5000Vrms isolation rating qualifies this driver for reinforced insulation in mains-connected equipment — motor drives, UPS, and grid-tied inverters where the safety barrier must withstand 2x the peak line voltage plus margin. The 150kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity is the spec that matters when the high-side gate driver references a switching node that slews at tens of kilovolts per microsecond. Without that CMTI, the output can glitch or latch, turning on the wrong switch. The 2.3A peak output drives the gate charge of medium-power IGBTs (up to ~100A class) and SiC FETs with moderate gate capacitance; for larger modules, you would parallel stages or step up to a 4A+ driver.
The iCoupler® family includes multiple output-current and channel-count variants, but no official pin-compatible second source is listed — the ADUM4120CRIZ is the single-channel, 2.3A, 5000Vrms member of that line.
