What this isolated gate driver is for
The ADUM3223CRZ-RL7 is a dual-channel isolated gate driver from Analog Devices' iCoupler family, built with magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 4 A peak output current per channel, enough to drive large MOSFETs or IGBTs in half-bridge and full-bridge topologies. The 3000 Vrms isolation rating and 50 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity make it a natural fit for motor drives, industrial inverters, and power supplies where the control side must float cleanly above the switching node.
4 A peak output — sizing the gate drive
The 4 A peak output is the spec that determines whether this part can switch your power device fast enough. With 12 ns typical rise and fall times, it charges the gate capacitance quickly, reducing switching losses in high-frequency converters. The output supply range of 11.5 V to 18 V lets you match the gate voltage to the MOSFET or IGBT threshold — 12 V for standard MOSFETs, 15 V for many IGBTs.
Isolation and CMTI — surviving the inverter environment
The 3000 Vrms isolation is rated for reinforced insulation in 230/400 V systems. The 50 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity means the output stays latched when the half-bridge switch node slews at tens of kilovolts per microsecond — a common failure point in noisy inverter designs. Propagation delay is matched at 54 ns max for both channels, so dead-time calculations stay tight.
