5000 Vrms isolation — reinforced insulation in a 16-SOIC
The ADUM240D1BRWZ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler® family, using magnetic coupling to transfer data across a reinforced isolation barrier rated at 5000 Vrms. The part does not include isolated power, so the secondary side needs its own supply rail. Four channels, all on Side 1 (inputs: 4, outputs: 0), means this variant is configured as a quad input-side receiver — useful for isolating four digital inputs from a sensor bank or encoder interface where the controller side is the isolated output. The unidirectional channel type simplifies routing: no direction-control pin needed.
At 150 Mbps, the ADUM240D1BRWZ comfortably handles SPI clock rates up to 75 MHz (half-duplex) or full-duplex UART at 150 Mbps. The 13 ns propagation delay (max) and 3 ns pulse-width distortion (max) keep the signal integrity tight enough for most industrial backplanes and isolated ADC interfaces. Rise and fall times are 2.5 ns typical — fast enough to avoid timing violations but not so fast that they cause excessive EMI without careful layout. Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 75 kV/µs minimum. That is the key spec for motor-drive and inverter applications: when the IGBT or SiC FET switches, the ground bounce across the isolation barrier can exceed 10 kV/µs. A 75 kV/µs CMTI rating gives you margin against false triggering or data corruption in those noisy environments.
ROHS3 compliant, so it passes EU material restrictions as-is.
