Two-channel isolation with 5000Vrms rating
The ADUM2201ARIZ-RL is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built around magnetic coupling technology. It provides 5000Vrms isolation between input and output sides, with one channel on side 1 and one on side 2. The 1Mbps data rate and 150ns propagation delay suit it for general-purpose signal isolation in industrial control, motor drives, and power supplies where the isolation barrier must withstand high voltage transients.
25kV/µs CMTI — why it matters for noisy environments
Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 25kV/µs minimum. In a motor-drive or inverter application, fast-switching IGBTs or SiC FETs can slam the isolation barrier with several kilovolts per microsecond. If the isolator's CMTI is too low, the output can glitch or latch, corrupting the control signal. The 25kV/µs figure here keeps the data path clean through those edges.
Operates from 3V to 5.5V on each side, so it can bridge a 3.3V MCU domain to a 5V gate-driver or sensor interface without a level shifter.
Package and footprint
Housed in a 16-pin SOIC with 7.50mm body width — the wide-body SOIC-16 that provides the creepage distance needed to sustain the 5000Vrms rating. Surface-mount only, so plan for reflow assembly. Cut Tape is also available for prototype builds.
