What this isolator brings to the board
The ADUM142D0BRZ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler family, built with magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 150Mbps data rate per channel with 3000Vrms isolation, making it a fit for breaking ground loops in industrial fieldbus, motor-drive feedback, and isolated SPI links. The supply range spans 1.7V to 5.5V, so it can sit on either side of a mixed-voltage interface without a separate level shifter.
The 150Mbps data rate handles high-speed serial protocols like SPI clocked at 50 MHz or CAN FD at 5 Mbps without adding jitter. Propagation delay is 13ns max, which keeps the timing budget tight enough for most sensor-to-controller paths. Pulse-width distortion stays under 3ns, so duty-cycle-sensitive signals like PWM don't get skewed across the barrier. Common-mode transient immunity of 75kV/µs is the spec that matters when this part lands on a motor-drive board or a switching power supply — fast voltage edges at the switching node can otherwise couple through the isolation capacitance and corrupt data. That 75kV/µs rating means it rejects the kind of noise you see in a 600V inverter phase leg. If your board lives in a cabinet next to a hot motor or sees engine-bay ambient, this part stays within spec without derating.
Package and footprint notes
It comes in a 16-SOIC narrow-body package (3.90mm width), surface-mount only. The narrow SOIC footprint is common, so the PCB layout is straightforward — no exposed pad, no thermal vias needed for most applications. MSL 3 handling applies: if the moisture-barrier bag has been open longer than the floor-life window, bake the parts before reflow.
