The ADUM1412BRWZ-RL is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from ADI's iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to transfer digital signals across a 3750Vrms isolation barrier. It supports data rates up to 10Mbps, making it a fit for isolating SPI, UART, or general-purpose logic signals in industrial, motor-drive, and power-conversion systems where galvanic isolation is required.
Channel count and direction — 2/2 split
With four unidirectional channels arranged as two inputs on side 1 and two inputs on side 2, this part handles bidirectional signal flow without needing an external direction pin. The 2/2 split suits applications like isolating a pair of control signals in each direction — for example, a PWM command and an enable going into a motor drive, with a fault and a status signal coming back.
Propagation delay and transient immunity
Maximum propagation delay is 50ns in both directions, with a pulse-width distortion of 5ns max. The 25kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (minimum) means the barrier holds its integrity when fast voltage spikes slam across the isolation gap — a common scenario in motor-drive or inverter stages where the ground potential jumps at the switching edge. Rise and fall times are typically 2.5ns, keeping signal edges clean at 10Mbps.
Operates from 2.7V to 5.5V on each side, so it can bridge a 3.3V MCU domain to a 5V peripheral or power-stage side without a level translator.
Package and mounting
Supplied in a 16-pin SOIC with 7.50mm body width (0.295-inch), surface-mount only. The wide-body SOIC provides the creepage distance needed to maintain the 3750Vrms isolation rating in the final assembly. Cut Tape is also available for prototyping.
