3000 Vrms isolation in an 8-SOIC — what it buys you
The ADUM1286BRZ is a two-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler® family, built around magnetic coupling rather than optocoupler LEDs. It delivers 3000 Vrms isolation in a standard 8-SOIC footprint, so it fits designs that need to break ground loops or provide safety isolation on a digital interface without the ageing and current-transfer-ratio drift of optocouplers. The 25 Mbps data rate handles SPI, UART, and general-purpose logic-level isolation at moderate speeds.
25 Mbps and 35 ns propagation delay — timing budget for the bus
With a maximum propagation delay of 35 ns in either direction and pulse-width distortion held to 3 ns max, the ADUM1286BRZ keeps the timing closure straightforward for 25 Mbps signalling. The 2.5 ns typical rise/fall time means the edges are clean enough for most logic families, but the 25 kV/µs minimum common-mode transient immunity ensures the output doesn't glitch when a motor drive or relay slams a fast transient across the isolation barrier. That CMTI number is the one to watch if this isolator sits between a noisy power stage and a sensitive controller.
Temperature grade and environment
The magnetic coupling technology doesn't suffer the LED degradation that limits optocoupler life at high temperature, so the isolation performance stays stable over the product's service life.
