Charge pump inverter for negative rail generation
The Analog Devices ADM8660ARZ-REEL is a charge pump voltage inverter that generates a negative output equal to the input voltage (-Vin) from a positive supply. It delivers up to 100 mA and operates from a 1.5 V to 7 V input.
Switching frequency selection — 25 kHz vs 120 kHz
The ADM8660ARZ-REEL lets you choose between 25 kHz and 120 kHz by changing the value of the oscillator capacitor. At 25 kHz, the part draws lower quiescent current — better for battery-powered or always-on circuits. At 120 kHz, the external capacitors can be smaller, saving board space. Neither frequency falls in the audio band, so no audible whine from ceramic capacitors. The trade-off is between efficiency and capacitor size; pick the frequency that matches your noise budget and PCB area.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in an 8-pin SOIC (3.90 mm width), surface-mount only. The -40°C to 85°C industrial temperature range covers most indoor and outdoor equipment — motor drives, telecom line cards, industrial instrumentation. Not rated for automotive under-hood (no AEC-Q100), but fine for cabin or chassis-adjacent electronics if the ambient stays within 85°C.
