RS-485 bus interface in a through-hole DIP
The ADM485ANZ: It runs at 5 Mbps, which is fast enough for multi-drop sensor busses and industrial control links where the cable length stays under a few hundred metres. The 8-pin DIP package (0.300" wide, 7.62 mm pitch) is a through-hole part — it drops into a breadboard or a legacy PCB without a reflow profile. For a rework bench, that means no hot air needed; a desoldering iron lifts it clean, and the pin spacing is wide enough to trace out with a meter. The receiver hysteresis is 70 mV, which gives noise immunity on long twisted-pair runs where ground potential differences can float the common mode.
Analog Devices lists the ADM485ANZ as Active. It is RoHS3 compliant, so no exemption paperwork needed for EU or UKCA markets.
