Programmable features — current limit, fault timeout, UVLO
Three programmable parameters give the designer control over inrush and fault response: current limit sets the maximum load current via an external sense resistor; fault timeout defines how long an overcurrent condition is tolerated before the MOSFET is latched off or retried; turn-on voltage (UVLO) sets the input voltage at which the controller enables the gate drive. The auto-retry feature (the '-1' variant) automatically attempts to restart after a fault, which is useful for transient loads or hot-swap cards that must self-recover without a system reset.
Package and mounting — TSOT-23-8 for compact layouts
Housed in a TSOT-23-8 package (also listed as SOT-23-8 Thin), this is a surface-mount part intended for reflow assembly. The small footprint suits dense PCB layouts where board area is at a premium — typical for add-in cards, blade servers, or multi-rail power management sections. The supplier device package is TSOT-23-8.
Lifecycle and compliance — active, ROHS3, no obsolescence concern
ADI lists the ADM1172-1AUJZ-RL7 as Active with a ROHS3 compliance rating. For BOM planning, this part can be specified into new designs without an immediate end-of-life risk.
