What this part is and where it fits
The ADM1021ARQ-REEL is a temperature monitoring system from Analog Devices that combines an internal sensor and an external diode-connected transistor input to track two temperature zones. It integrates an ADC, comparator, multiplexer, and register bank on-chip, reporting results over an SMBus interface. Typical applications include microprocessor thermal management, desktop and notebook PCs, telecom line cards, and industrial controllers where the local die and a remote hot spot — like a CPU core or GPU — need simultaneous monitoring. The ±1°C local accuracy is tight enough for fan-speed control loops; the ±5°C remote channel is a threshold check, not a precision measurement.
Temperature range — what it means for the BOM
The operating temperature range is 0°C to 100°C. The remote sensor channel tracks an external diode over the same 0°C to 100°C window.
Package and footprint
Supplied in a 16-pin SSOP (0.154" body width, 3.90 mm) — also referred to as a 16-QSOP in the supplier device package field. Surface-mount only. The Bulk shipping medium means the parts arrive in tubes or trays, not tape-and-reel.
