What the 4-channel configurable I/O means for your BOM
The AD74412RBCPZ is a quad-channel software-configurable input/output device from Analog Devices, packing four 16-bit channels that can each be independently set as an analog input, analog output, digital input, or digital output via SPI commands. This eliminates the need for separate ADC, DAC, and digital I/O ICs on a mixed-signal control board — one 64-LFCSP (9x9) package replaces three or four discrete signal-chain parts.
Parametric fit: resolution, sample rate, and supply rails
Each channel samples at 4.8 kSPS with 16-bit resolution — fast enough for process-control loops (valve position, pressure, temperature) where the dominant time constant is tens of milliseconds, not microseconds.
