Analog current output — 1 µA/K transfer function
The AD590JH outputs an analog current proportional to absolute temperature — 298.2 µA at 25°C, scaling 1 µA per Kelvin. No external linearization or cold-junction compensation is needed; just a resistor to ground converts the current to a voltage the ADC reads.
The ±5°C figure is the untrimmed grade — sufficient for over-temperature shutdown, thermal zone monitoring, or compensating a VCO drift, but not for a precision thermocouple replacement. The -55°C floor qualifies it for cold-start testing in avionics or outdoor telecom cabinets where commercial-grade sensors stop working below -40°C.
Active lifecycle — no last-time-buy pressure
There is no EOL notice, no NRND flag, and no official successor — the part is still in the current catalog. For a BOM that already qualifies this through-hole sensor, there is no rush to redesign or hoard inventory.
