The MEMS resonator inside the ASEMP series is a silicon structural element driven electrostatically — this eliminates the mechanical fragility of a saw-cut quartz blank and raises the immunity to board-level drop and shock.
Enable/Disable and power budget
The Enable/Disable pin lets the oscillator shut off its output buffer while keeping the MEMS resonator biased internally — draw drops from 35 mA maximum in normal operation to 26 mA maximum in disable mode. For battery-backed or power-cycled systems this matters: the disable state still draws current, so true shutdown requires switching the supply rail — budget the 26 mA disable draw against a low-power sleep state that tolerates no clock output but cannot fully power down the oscillator.
