600 V, 5 A standard recovery rectifier for automotive power stages
The Vishay SE50PAJHM3/I is a 600 V, 5 A standard recovery rectifier from the Automotive, AEC-Q101, eSMP® series. It is a general-purpose silicon diode designed for line-frequency rectification, freewheeling, and snubber circuits in automotive and industrial power converters where switching speed is not the primary constraint. Forward voltage drop is 1.16 V at 5 A; reverse recovery time is 2 µs.
Junction temperature and thermal budget
Junction temperature rating is 175°C. The DO-221BC (SMPA) package with an exposed pad conducts heat into the PCB copper plane. The thermal resistance to the board depends on the pad area and via count; a 1-inch-square copper pad on a 2-ounce board is a typical starting point for a 5 A continuous load.
Leakage, capacitance, and switching behavior
Reverse leakage is 10 µA at 600 V rated reverse voltage. The junction capacitance is 32 pF at 4 V and 1 MHz — low enough that the diode does not load the switching node with significant capacitive loss in low-frequency rectifier stages. Standard recovery class with 2 µs trr.
Automotive qualification and production status
It is AEC-Q101 qualified, meeting the stress and reliability requirements for automotive-grade discrete semiconductors. ROHS3 compliant. The eSMP® series designation indicates the SMA Flat Leads package variant with exposed pad for improved thermal performance.
