200 V, 1.5 A standard recovery — the line-frequency workhorse
The GP15D-E3/54: The GP15D-/54: The Vishay GP15D-/54 is a standard recovery rectifier from the SUPERECTIFIER® series, rated for 200 V reverse voltage and 1.5 A average forward current. It is built for 50/60 Hz mains rectification, bulk storage capacitor charging, and freewheeling diode duty in power supplies and motor drives where switching speed is not the constraint. The 1.1 V forward voltage at 1.5 A sets the conduction loss. The 3.5 µs reverse recovery time confirms this is not a fast-recovery part.
Junction temperature and thermal budget
The junction temperature range spans -65°C to 175°C, giving headroom for high-ambient enclosures in industrial control panels or outdoor telecom cabinets. The 5 µA reverse leakage at 200 V is specified at room temperature; expect leakage to rise with junction temperature — a key derating consideration when the diode runs near its 1.5 A limit in a confined space.
Package and mounting — axial lead, through-hole
Housed in a DO-204AC (DO-15) axial-lead package, the GP15D-/54 is a through-hole part intended for point-to-point wiring or PCB mounting with formed leads. The axial body allows heatsink clips or shared thermal management with adjacent components in a bridge rectifier layout.
