5000 Vrms isolation — the spec that qualifies this for gate-drive duty
The Toshiba TLP5772(D4,E is a single-channel optocoupler with a push-pull totem-pole output, designed for isolated gate-drive applications in motor drives, IGBT inverters, and industrial power supplies. Its 5000 Vrms isolation rating provides the galvanic separation required between the low-voltage control side and the high-voltage power stage, with a common-mode transient immunity of 35 kV/µs minimum — enough to reject the fast switching edges in a half-bridge without corrupting the output.
150 ns propagation delay — timing budget for dead-time and PWM sync
The maximum propagation delay (tpLH / tpHL) is 150 ns each way, which sets the window for dead-time insertion in a gate-drive signal chain. With rise and fall times of 15 ns and 8 ns typical, the output edges are clean enough for switching frequencies up to the low hundreds of kilohertz.
For new designs this removes the obsolescence risk that often drives a last-minute BOM respin.
