3750Vrms isolation in a 6-SOP — what this photocoupler delivers
The Toshiba TLX9188(GBTPL,F is a single-channel DC-input transistor-output photocoupler in a 6-SOP surface-mount package. It provides 3750Vrms of galvanic isolation between the input LED and the output phototransistor, which is the basic reinforced isolation level for many industrial and automotive applications. The current transfer ratio spans 100% to 600% when the LED is driven at 5mA, giving you a wide gain window to ensure the output saturates reliably over temperature and LED aging. The output transistor can block up to 200V and sink 50mA continuous, making this part suitable for driving logic inputs, PLC I/O modules, or switching low-power DC loads.
Temperature range and operating environment
The 125°C upper limit covers most engine-bay and transmission-control applications, though you still need to derate the LED forward current and output power at the high end per the thermal derating curve.
Switching speed and timing budget
Typical rise and fall times are 2µs and 3µs respectively, with turn-on and turn-off times both at 3µs. That puts this part in the standard-speed photocoupler class — fine for 10 kHz to 20 kHz switching, digital input sampling, or isolated serial communication at moderate baud rates. If you need sub-microsecond propagation delay for high-speed gate drives or fieldbus isolation, you would step up to a logic-output or CMOS-output isolator.
Package and footprint
The 6-SOP package (6-SOIC, 4.40mm width, 0.173" body height) is a standard surface-mount footprint shared with many TOSHIBA and competitor photocouplers. The 4-lead variant leaves two pins unconnected (NC) for creepage distance.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
It is RoHS compliant.
