5000Vrms isolation in a 6-SOIC 4-lead package
The Toshiba TLP388(GB-TPR,E is a single-channel transistor-output optocoupler in a 6-SOIC 4-lead surface-mount package. It provides 5000Vrms galvanic isolation between a DC input LED and a phototransistor output rated for 350V collector-emitter voltage and 50mA continuous current. The current transfer ratio spans 100% to 600% at a 5mA forward current, giving the designer headroom to accommodate LED degradation over temperature and operating life. Typical rise and fall times are 2µs and 3µs respectively, with symmetrical 3µs turn-on and turn-off times — adequate for 10kHz-class PWM and relay-drive applications in industrial controls, motor drives, and isolated power-supply feedback loops.
Temperature range and output voltage — fit for harsh environments
The 350V output maximum allows direct interface to 277VAC line-monitoring circuits, 48V telecom rails, and 400V-class DC bus voltage sensing when paired with an appropriate input resistor. The 400mV Vce saturation at 50mA keeps power dissipation low in the output transistor, reducing self-heating in the 6-SOIC package.
