350V VCEO in a 4-lead SOIC — what it buys you
The Toshiba TLP388(D4-TPR,E is a single-channel DC-input transistor-output optocoupler in a 6-SOIC package with only 4 leads populated. Its headline rating is a 350V collector-emitter breakdown (VCEO max) — that puts it in the high-voltage opto class, capable of switching 48V telecom rails, 110V DC bus voltages in industrial controls, or driving the gate of a high-side MOSFET through a bootstrap circuit. The 5000Vrms isolation rating qualifies it for reinforced insulation in mains-referenced feedback paths, motor drive IGBT gate drive, and medical equipment where patient protection is a regulatory requirement.
Switching speed and CTR — design boundaries
Typical turn-on and turn-off times are both 3µs, with rise and fall at 2µs and 3µs respectively.
Temperature range and environment
Operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 6-SOIC body with a 4.40mm width and 0.173" pitch, but only 4 leads are electrically connected — the two centre pins are omitted, leaving a 4-lead footprint that matches the standard SOIC-6 land pattern. Surface-mount only.
