Gate driver optocoupler for IGBT and MOSFET switching
The Toshiba TLP352F(D4-TP4,F) is a single-channel optocoupler gate driver designed to directly drive IGBTs and power MOSFETs in isolated switching applications. It delivers a peak output current of 2.5 A and provides reinforced isolation rated at 3750 Vrms, with approvals from CSA, cUL, UL, and VDE.
The 2.5 A peak output current is enough to charge and discharge typical IGBT gate capacitance in the tens of nanoseconds, which directly determines switching losses and dead-time margins. The 15 ns typical rise and 8 ns fall times keep crossover conduction short in half-bridge topologies. The 20 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the output stays clean when the switching node slews at high dV/dt — a common failure point in motor drives where the floating ground jumps several hundred volts in a microsecond. Budget the 1.55 V forward voltage drop and 20 mA maximum LED current when sizing the primary-side drive resistor.
