Single-channel transistor-output optocoupler with AC/DC input
The Toshiba TLP292(TPL,E is a single-channel optocoupler with a phototransistor output, housed in a surface-mount package. It accepts both AC and DC input on the LED side, which simplifies designs that need to sense AC line presence or polarity-independent DC signals without an external bridge rectifier. The 3750Vrms isolation rating provides a basic safety barrier for applications such as industrial controls, power-supply feedback loops, and PLC digital inputs where galvanic isolation is required between the high-voltage and low-voltage domains.
CTR spread and LED drive margin
The current transfer ratio spans 50% minimum to 600% maximum at a forward current of 5 mA. The output transistor is rated for 50 mA continuous per channel and a maximum Vce of 80 V.
Switching speed and timing budget
Typical rise and fall times are 2 µs and 3 µs respectively, with turn-on and turn-off times both rated at 3 µs typical.
Temperature range and deployment environment
The surface-mount package with 4.55 mm body width is a compact footprint for dense PCB layouts, and the surface-mount format suits automated assembly. The ROHS3 compliance confirms no restricted substances in the bill of materials, which is a standard requirement for new designs sold into EU markets.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
It is a current-series part, not a phase-out candidate.
