Four-channel isolation in a single SO-16
The TLP292-4(V4-TR,E packs four independent transistor-output optocouplers into a 16-SOIC (0.179", 4.55mm width) package, delivering 3750Vrms galvanic isolation per channel. That density saves board area and per-channel cost compared to using four single-channel parts, and the surface-mount SO-16 footprint is a standard pick-and-place profile.
CTR spread and LED drive margin
Current transfer ratio spans 50% min to 600% max at a forward current of 5mA. That wide spread means the LED drive current must be sized for the minimum CTR to guarantee the output transistor saturates; at the same time, the 600% ceiling means the output pull-up resistor should be chosen to limit collector current to the 50mA per-channel rating. The 1.25V typical forward voltage at If=5mA is a standard LED drop, so the drive circuit is straightforward.
Switching speed and temperature range
Rise and fall times are 2µs and 3µs typical, with turn-on and turn-off times both 3µs typical. That suits 10-100 kHz switching in PLC input modules, AC line sensing, and DC bus voltage monitoring.
Active production and sourcing
Toshiba lists the TLP292-4(V4-TR,E as Active product status, RoHS compliant.
