Single-channel isolated gate driver with push-pull output
The Toshiba TLP2745(TP,E is a single-channel optocoupler with a push-pull, totem-pole output stage, designed for isolated signal transmission in industrial and power-conversion applications. It provides 5000Vrms of reinforced isolation in a 6-SOIC wide-body package (7.50mm width), suiting it for motor drives, inverters, and PLC I/O modules where galvanic isolation between control and power domains is mandatory.
The 5000Vrms isolation rating qualifies this part for reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5, common in medical, industrial, and motor-drive systems where a single fault must not create a shock hazard. The 30kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the output stays clean when fast-switching IGBTs or SiC MOSFETs slam the isolation barrier with high dv/dt — a spec that separates this part from slower optocouplers that would glitch and cause false switching in inverter applications. Propagation delay is 120ns max, symmetrical for tpLH and tpHL. That 120ns window must be budgeted into the control-loop timing; at 8 MHz PWM switching, it is about one clock cycle of dead time. The 3ns typical rise/fall time keeps the output edges crisp, reducing shoot-through risk in gate-drive chains. The output is push-pull, totem pole, meaning it drives both high and low without an external pull-up resistor. This saves a resistor on the BOM and simplifies layout for isolated PWM or fault-signal transmission.
