Darlington output with wide CTR window
The TLP2703(TP,E is a single-channel Darlington-output optocoupler from Toshiba, housed in a 6-SOIC wide-body package (7.50 mm width) that provides 8 mm creepage for reinforced insulation. Its current transfer ratio spans 900% minimum to 8000% maximum at an LED forward current of 500 µA — a 9:1 spread that accommodates LED drive current variation across temperature and aging without losing logic-level output. The Darlington stage delivers up to 80 mA continuous output current at a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 18 V, making it suitable for driving PLC digital inputs, small relays, or DC loads directly from the optocoupler output.
Isolation and switching performance
Rated for 5000 Vrms isolation, the TLP2703 meets the reinforced insulation requirement for mains-connected industrial interfaces per IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1. The 6-SO wide-body package with 0.295-inch (7.50 mm) body width provides the physical creepage distance needed to sustain that voltage rating across the isolation barrier. Switching times are specified as 330 ns typical turn-on and 2.5 µs typical turn-off — fast enough for 100 kHz digital signal isolation or low-speed PWM, but not intended for high-speed data links. The 1.47 V typical forward voltage at 20 mA maximum LED current keeps the input-side power dissipation low.
Temperature grade and supply posture
Operating temperature spans -40°C to 125°C, covering industrial automation, motor-drive feedback, and under-hood automotive environments without derating. Supplied in Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options for surface-mount assembly. The 6-SO package footprint is common across Toshiba's optocoupler family, simplifying board layout if a different channel count or output configuration is later required.
