Dual-channel 10MBd optocoupler with 5 kV isolation
The Toshiba TLP2662(F) is a dual-channel optocoupler with open-collector outputs rated for 10MBd data rates and 5000Vrms isolation.
5000Vrms isolation and 20kV/µs transient immunity
The 5000Vrms isolation voltage is the primary spec that determines where this part fits in a BOM. In a motor-drive design with 600V DC bus, that rating provides reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5, so you can use it for gate-driver feedback or fault-signal isolation without a second barrier. The 20kV/µs common-mode transient immunity means the outputs stay clean when the IGBTs switch at several kV/µs — a common failure mode for slower optos in inverter stages.
10MBd data rate with fast edges
At 10MBd with 12ns rise and 3ns fall times, the TLP2662(F) handles digital signals like SPI clock lines, encoder A/B channels, or CAN transceiver isolation without adding jitter or pulse-width distortion. The 75ns max propagation delay (both directions) is symmetric, which simplifies timing budget calculations in half-duplex links.
Supply range and drive current
The output side runs on 2.7V to 5.5V, so it interfaces directly with 3.3V or 5V logic without a level shifter. The LED forward voltage is 1.55V typical, and the forward current limit is 20 mA — standard for logic-level optocouplers.
Through-hole DIP-8 — legacy board retrofit
The 8-DIP package with 0.300" (7.62mm) pin spacing is the classic through-hole format. If you are retrofitting an older PLC or motor-drive board that originally used a single-channel DIP-8 opto, this dual-channel part can replace two of them in the same footprint, freeing up board space. The through-hole body also suits hand-assembly or rework in low-volume production.
