Triac output optocoupler for AC load control
The Toshiba TLP265J(T7-TPL,E is a single-channel Triac output optocoupler in a 6-SOP surface-mount package, designed for isolated switching of AC loads up to 600 V off-state. It provides 3750 Vrms isolation between the LED input and the Triac output, making it suitable for mains-connected industrial controls, solid-state relays, and motor starters. The 100 µs max turn-on time and 500 V/µs typical static dV/dt immunity ensure reliable triggering and false-trigger rejection in noisy line environments.
The 600 V off-state voltage rating covers 240 VAC mains with healthy margin, and also handles 400 VDC bus switching in three-phase rectifier stages. The 500 V/µs minimum static dV/dt immunity (typical) prevents the Triac from self-triggering on fast line transients from inductive loads or relay bounce — a common failure mode in motor and solenoid drives. No zero-crossing circuit is built in, so the turn-on timing is fully controlled by the LED trigger current, which has a 7 mA max threshold. That 7 mA Ift means a standard logic-level GPIO with a series resistor can drive the LED directly, keeping the BOM simple.
Package, mounting, and temperature grade
Housed in a 6-SOP (6-SOIC, 4-lead) package with 4.40 mm body width, surface-mount compatible. The hold current is 1 mA typical, so the Triac latches cleanly once triggered and does not drop out on half-cycle current dips.
Active lifecycle and compliance
RoHS compliant. Approved by CQC, cUR, and UR, covering China and North American safety standards — a plus for equipment destined for those markets.
