Single-channel transistor-output optocoupler with 3750Vrms isolation
The Toshiba TLP183(Y-TPL,E is a single-channel DC-input transistor-output optocoupler rated for 3750Vrms isolation, housed in a 6-SOP (4.40mm width, 4 leads) package for surface-mount assembly. It delivers a fixed current transfer ratio of 150% at 5mA forward current — both minimum and maximum are the same value, so there is no CTR bin spread to design around. The output transistor is rated for 80V collector-emitter voltage and can sink 50mA continuous per channel. Rise and fall times are 2µs and 3µs typical, with turn-on and turn-off times both 3µs typical, making it suitable for moderate-speed isolation in industrial and power-control applications.
Fixed CTR bin — no spread, no guesswork
Both the minimum and maximum current transfer ratio are specified as 150% at 5mA forward current. That means every reel from this bin behaves identically: the LED current needed to guarantee a given collector current is the same across all units. For the BOM engineer, this eliminates the usual CTR margin stack-up that comes with a wide min-max spread. The typical forward voltage is 1.25V, and the maximum DC forward current is 50mA.
Where the 125°C rating matters
The TLP183(Y-TPL,E operates up to 125°C, while the TLP185(YH-TPL,SE is rated to 110°C. The 3750Vrms isolation supports reinforced insulation in mains-connected interfaces.
