The Toshiba TLP182(Y-TPL,E is a single-channel transistor-output optocoupler in a 4-lead 6-SOP package.
3750Vrms isolation and the full temperature range
Rated for 3750Vrms isolation, this part covers the basic isolation requirement for many industrial and telecom designs without needing a bulkier DIP package.
CTR and drive margin — what the numbers mean
The current transfer ratio is specified at 50% minimum and 150% maximum, both at a 5 mA LED forward current. That 3:1 spread is typical for a standard CTR bin, but the 50% floor means you can design the LED drive resistor for 5 mA and still have enough photocurrent to saturate the output transistor into a logic input or a 5 V relay coil. The 1.25 V typical forward voltage helps keep the LED power dissipation predictable across temperature.
Output ratings and switching speed
The output transistor is rated for 80 V maximum and 50 mA continuous current. Switching times are 2 µs rise, 3 µs fall typical, and 3 µs turn-on/turn-off times.
Package and mounting
The 6-SOP body is 4.40 mm wide with only 4 leads — the outer two pins are no-connects, so the active pins are well spaced. That makes hand-rework straightforward under hot air: the SOP body is small enough to heat evenly, and the wide pin pitch means you can see the solder reflow without magnification.
