BLDC commutation controller for 12V automotive systems
The Toshiba TB9061AFNG,EL is a Bi-CMOS brushless DC motor controller designed for commutation and direction management in automotive environments. The device operates from a 5.5V to 18V supply, covering the nominal 12V automotive battery rail with margin for cold-crank dips and load-dump excursions. Three half-bridge outputs match the three-phase winding structure of a BLDC motor, with the controller handling the commutation sequencing and direction logic while an external power stage handles the current drive.
The 5.5V to 18V supply range is sized for 12V automotive systems: the lower end clears the 6V cold-crank floor typical of modern vehicles, while the 18V upper limit provides headroom for load-dump transients without requiring a separate pre-regulator. The AEC-Q100 qualification (stress test qualification for automotive ICs) is the baseline requirement for tier-1 suppliers, and this part carries it on the series label.
Package and mounting
The TB9061AFNG,EL is supplied in a 24-LSSOP package (0.220" body width, 5.60mm width) with a 24-SSOP supplier device package designation. It is surface-mount only, so the board assembly process must accommodate the fine-pitch SSOP footprint.
Lifecycle and supply posture
It is RoHS Compliant.
