Bipolar stepper driver — 2 A, 10–47 V load
The TB67S261FTG,EL is a fully integrated bipolar stepper motor driver from Toshiba, combining the control logic and power stage in a single 48-WQFN package. The output stage uses four half-bridge Power MOSFETs, so the conduction losses are dominated by the MOSFET Rds(on) rather than a Darlington or bipolar H-bridge — this keeps the thermal rise lower at the same current for a given board copper area.
Step resolution and interface
Step resolution is selectable via the parallel interface: full-step, half-step, and quarter-step (1/4) microstepping are supported. The parallel control bus accepts step and direction signals directly from a host MCU or motion controller without needing an external sequencer. The motor supply (VM) is separate, 10 V to 47 V, so the driver can run from a regulated 5 V logic supply while the motor sees a higher, possibly unregulated, power bus.
Package and thermal management
Without it, the 2 A output current will push the junction temperature above the 150 °C absolute maximum under sustained load. Operating junction temperature range is -20 °C to 150 °C — the lower end is tight for outdoor or cold-storage equipment; if the ambient drops below -20 °C, the driver may not start reliably. The upper limit is typical for a power device; derate output current above 85 °C ambient per the datasheet's thermal derating curve.
