Dual PNP pre-biased — bias resistors and footprint
The RN2505TE85LF packs two PNP transistors in a single SC-74A (SOT-753) package, each with integrated bias resistors: 2.2 kΩ base (R1) and 47 kΩ emitter-base (R2). This emitter-coupled dual configuration saves board space and external resistor count in switching and interface circuits where the bias network is fixed. Rated for 50 V collector-emitter breakdown and 100 mA continuous collector current, with a 300 mW power dissipation limit in the SMV package. The 200 MHz transition frequency means it handles moderate-speed switching up into the low-MHz range — fine for relay drivers, level shifters, and logic interface buffers.
Package and rework reality
SC-74A / SOT-753 is a small-outline package with five leads — the SMV variant is Toshiba's naming for this footprint. The 0.95 mm pitch and 2.9 x 1.6 mm body make it hand-reworkable with a fine-tip iron or hot air at 300°C, but the small pad area means the 300 mW dissipation limit is real; keep the copper pour under the part modest to avoid overheating the die during reflow. Cut Tape works for prototype or low-volume builds.
