Fixed 0.9 V rail for noise-sensitive loads
The Texas Instruments LP5912-0.9DRVT is a fixed-output low-dropout linear regulator delivering 500 mA at 0.9 V from a 6.5 V max input. Its 55 µA quiescent current keeps battery drain low in always-on sensor nodes or wireless modules, while the PSRR of 65 dB at 100 Hz dropping to 40 dB at 100 kHz cleans up ripple from switching pre-regulators feeding analog or RF front-ends.
Thermal and protection envelope
Junction temperature rating of -40°C to 125°C covers industrial enclosures and under-hood automotive zones. The 6-WSON (2x2 mm) exposed pad pulls heat into the PCB copper plane — layout the pad to a thermal via array if running near 500 mA at high ambient. On-chip protection includes over-temperature shutdown, reverse polarity blocking, and short-circuit current limiting, which saves external clamp diodes in field-wired or battery-powered gear.
Control features and BOM simplicity
Enable pin allows sequenced power-up; Power Good output signals the downstream load when the output is within regulation. Soft start limits inrush current on the 0.9 V rail, useful when powering an MCU core or FPGA bank that presents a large capacitive load at turn-on. Fixed output eliminates the feedback resistor divider, saving two components and one tolerance stack-up.
