Fixed 2.5 V LDO for industrial rails
The Texas Instruments LP3961ESX-2.5 is a fixed positive LDO regulator delivering 800 mA at 2.5 V. It comes in a DDPAK/TO-263-5 surface-mount package with a tab for heat sinking. The enable pin lets you sequence the rail; protection features cover over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit events. Rated for -40°C to 125°C, it suits outdoor telecom, motor drives, and factory-floor control boards where the ambient temperature climbs.
Quiescent and supply current budget
Quiescent current is 9 mA typical; maximum supply current is 15 mA.
Package and mounting — DDPAK/TO-263-5
The DDPAK/TO-263-5 package has five leads plus a large tab. The tab is the output (VOUT) and the primary thermal path. Solder the tab to a copper plane on the PCB; for 800 mA continuous at high ambient, a 1 in² pad is a reasonable starting point. If your pick-and-place line expects embossed tape, factor in a tube-to-tape transfer or order a taped variant.
Lifecycle and sourcing
RoHS status is listed as non-compliant, so verify your assembly house's exemption allowance if you need lead-free solder.
