Fixed 2.5 V LDO for noise-sensitive and always-on rails
The Texas Instruments LP2992IM5-2.5/NOPB is a fixed-output positive LDO linear regulator delivering 250 mA at a nominal 2.5 V. It comes in a 5-pin SOT-23-5 package and operates across the full -40°C to 125°C temperature range. Key features include a low 95 µA quiescent current, a maximum dropout voltage of 0.85 V at full load, and a PSRR of 45 dB at 1 kHz. Built-in protection covers over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit events, with an enable pin for on/off control. This part is suited for powering analog front-ends, low-power MCUs, and sensor rails in industrial, automotive, and battery-operated equipment where a clean, stable 2.5 V supply is needed.
Quiescent current and enable — always-on and duty-cycled designs
At 95 µA quiescent current, this regulator draws very little just to stay alive — useful for battery-powered equipment that spends most of its time in a low-power state. The enable pin lets a system controller shut down the output completely, dropping the supply current to near zero. That combination makes it a good fit for IoT edge nodes, portable instruments, and automotive body modules that need to wake on a signal.
Package and mounting — SOT-23-5 footprint
The SOT-23-5 surface-mount package is a standard small outline with five leads. Board layout uses a single ground plane under the device for thermal dissipation; the 250 mA output at high ambient temperature benefits from adequate copper area. The enable pin is active-high — leave it floating or tie to input if not used.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant.
