Precision 4.096 V shunt reference in SOT-23-3
The Texas Instruments LM4050AIM3-4.1/NOPB is a precision shunt voltage reference delivering a fixed 4.096 V output with ±0.1% initial tolerance. It is a three-terminal shunt (two-terminal plus cathode) device that operates like a precision Zener — no external pass transistor, just a bias resistor from the supply to the cathode. The reference is trimmed to 50 ppm/°C temperature coefficient and specified over -40°C to 85°C, making it suited for industrial control loops, sensor front-ends, and ADC/DAC reference inputs where board space is tight. The SOT-23-3 package fits on a small PCB footprint, and the shunt topology means it can be used with a wide range of supply voltages as long as the bias resistor keeps the cathode current above 73 µA and below the 15 mA maximum.
4.096 V — a natural fit for 12-bit and 16-bit ADC systems
The 4.096 V output is a common full-scale voltage for many ADCs and DACs.
Shunt topology: bias resistor sets the operating point
The designer must select a bias resistor to keep the cathode current between 73 µA and 15 mA.
Active lifecycle — no LTB risk for new designs
The LM4050AIM3-4.1/NOPB carries an Active product status, meaning Texas Instruments continues to manufacture it with no announced last-time-buy or end-of-life. It is also RoHS3 compliant, so it meets current EU and global restrictions on hazardous substances. For a BOM line, this part can be specified into new production without worrying about near-term obsolescence.
Package and mounting — SOT-23-3 with standard land pattern
The part is supplied in a TO-236-3 / SC-59 / SOT-23-3 package.
