The lower bound of -55 °C means the part can sit in equipment that must cold-start — outdoor power supplies, industrial enclosures without heating, or automotive under-hood modules that see low-temperature cold-crank conditions. The Zener knee at low temperature is sharper, so the standoff leakage current is lower at cold, not higher.
DO-214AB SMC package and general-purpose positioning
The DO-214AB (SMC) is the standard 2-pinJ-lead package for 1500–3000 W TVS diodes across the industry — pin-compatible across manufacturers, which matters for second-source sourcing when a particular Taiwan Semiconductor run is tight. The surface-mount land pattern accepts standard paste-and-reflow assembly; no through-hole mounting hardware needed. For new designs that require AEC-Q101, look at the 1.5SMCxAxA series with the automotive suffix or a different series entirely.
