Clamping architecture — what each threshold does
The 1.5SMC82A V7G: The 70.1V reverse standoff is the working voltage — the part sits idle below it. At 77.9V minimum breakdown the Zener avalanche kicks in, and the clamping characteristic forces the voltage back down to a maximum of 113V at the 13.9A peak pulse current. That 113V ceiling is the number the downstream circuit must withstand — the TVS absorbs the transient energy and clamps the overvoltage before it reaches the protected node.
Wide junction temperature, standard SMC footprint
The DO-214AB (SMC) package is the industry-standard footprint for 1.5kW-class TVS diodes, which means the land pattern and solder-mask window are interchangeable across suppliers.
