Unidirectional TVS — clamping hierarchy and peak pulse rating
The 1.5SMC62CA V7G: The 53 V reverse standoff is the working voltage the diode sustains without conduction — the circuit sees no clamping action below it. That 85 V ceiling is what the downstream silicon sees during the event. The 1500 W peak-pulse rating defines the energy the device can absorb during a single 10/1000 µs surge — this is the figure that sizes the TVS against the expected transient severity in the telecom equipment slot. Larger transient energy than 1500 W in that pulse width will push the diode out of its unclamped SOA and requires a higher-rated part.

Listed with Telecom applications — this series is common on line-card inputs and RF front-ends where lightning-induced transients couple onto the data pairs. DO-214AB (SMC) package — the larger SMB footprint gives a beefier die attachment than the adjacent DO-214AA (SMA) family, which is why the 1.5SMC series carries the 1500 W rating where the 1SMC sister sits at 600 W. Footprint is solder-pad compatible across the SMC-family siblings — swapping up or down the peak-pulse rating is a drop-in on the same land pattern.
