The 1.5SMC62AHR7G: The reverse standoff of 53 V typ sets the continuous working voltage the diode blocks in normal operation; the clamping voltage of 85 V max at the rated peak pulse current (18 A, 10/1000 µs) is the ceiling the TVS enforces when a transient arrives — so downstream circuits see no more than 85 V regardless of the upstream surge severity. The breakdown floor of 58.9 V min sits above the standoff, giving the protection window a defined gap — the TVS stays invisible to the circuit until the transient exceeds that threshold.
Automotive grade and thermal margin
AEC-Q101 qualification means the part has passed the automotive stress tests for discrete semiconductors — temperature cycling, humidity bias, and peak pulse energy, among others — and is accepted for engine-compartment and body-electronics protection designs. DO-214AB (SMC) is a standard automotive pad footprint — the cathode bar marks the polarity on the top mark; polarity matters for unidirectional TVS placement in the forward-bias direction of the protected line.
