Clamping curve and pulse handling
For shorter transients (8/20µs), the device can handle a higher peak current, but the datasheet's power derating curve above 25°C must be applied. With a 47.8V standoff, this part protects 48V nominal rails — typical in automotive battery lines, PoE injectors, and 48V telecom supplies. The 53.2V breakdown minimum gives margin above the rail tolerance before the TVS starts conducting leakage current. No power line protection (unidirectional only) — the single-channel design clamps positive transients to ground; reverse polarity events require an external series diode or a separate bidirectional device.
