1500W bidirectional TVS — clamp voltage and surge rating
The 1.5SMC43CA M6G: At the rated 26A peak pulse current, the clamp voltage is 59.3V maximum — this is the voltage the protected circuit sees during the surge. A 36V-rated downstream device with 60V abs-max survives this transient with margin. The single bidirectional channel clamps both positive and negative transients in one DO-214AB package, eliminating the need for two series unidirectional parts on a bipolar line.
Thermal range and package fit
Surface-mount assembly on standard FR-4 with the recommended copper pad area per the datasheet keeps the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance low enough for repetitive surge events. No power-line protection rating — this is a general-purpose TVS, not a mains-side MOV replacement.
