AEC-Q101 qualification and temperature range
This part carries AEC-Q101 automotive qualification, meaning it has passed the reliability stress tests (high-temperature reverse bias, temperature cycling, ESD) required for under-hood and cabin electronics. For a 1500W pulse, the junction temperature rise is dominated by the pulse energy, not the steady-state dissipation, so the board layout's copper pour matters more for repetitive surge handling than for single-event clamping.
Rework and board-fit notes
The DO-214AB body is about 7.1 mm long by 6.2 mm wide — a sizable lump of plastic and copper. Under hot air, preheat the board to 125°C before hitting the part; the large cathode tab sinks heat fast, so a focused nozzle at 300°C for 10-12 seconds usually lifts it clean. Pin 1 on a bidirectional part is irrelevant — it's symmetric — but orientation matters for the cathode band if you ever swap in a unipolar variant. The Tape & Reel packaging feeds well into pick-and-place; the SMC footprint is standard and matches most 1500W TVS land patterns. No special bake required below MSL 1, but if the reel has been open for more than 72 hours in a humid shop, a 24-hour bake at 125°C before reflow is cheap insurance against popcorning.
