Protection window for 24V automotive buses
The 1.5SMC27CAHR7G: The 23.1V reverse standoff sits above a nominal 24V battery rail, so the TVS stays transparent during normal operation. Breakdown triggers at 25.7V minimum, and clamping holds at 37.5V — that 11.8V window between standoff and clamp absorbs load-dump and inductive kickback without letting the bus see destructive overvoltage.
AEC-Q101 and the under-hood temperature envelope
AEC-Q101 qualification means this part passed the full automotive stress battery — high-temperature reverse bias, temperature cycling, and ESD robustness. The 1500W rating assumes a standard FR-4 pad; a larger copper area improves derating at elevated ambient.
Bidirectional — one part for both polarities
Single bidirectional channel clamps equally in forward and reverse, so a single 1.5SMC27CAHR7G protects a 24V line that sees reverse-battery connection or an AC-coupled signal — no need for two back-to-back unidirectional parts. Zener-type construction gives sharp breakdown and low leakage below the standoff threshold.
